Mrs. FRESHWATER Dies At Hospital

Death came early this morning to Mrs. James FRESHWATER, long-time resident of Fairfield. She passed away about 6 a.m. at the Jefferson county hospital after she had been in failing health for the past six months and seriously ill the past two weeks.

Last rites will be Friday at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist church with the Rev. George Meyers in charge. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery. The body is at the Weston Behner funeral home.

Mrs. FRESHWATER, 74, was born Aug 7, 1879, at Lockridge, Ia., the daughter of the late David and Alice BANKHEAD LOWRY. She was united in marriage on March 7, 1899, to James A. FRESHWATER who preceded his wife in death on Sept. 10, 1950.

A member of the Baptist church, Mrs. FRESHWATER spent most of her life in this community.

She is survived by the following children: Mrs. Art MILLER, Des Moines; J. W. FRESHWATER, West Covina, Calif.; Glen (sic - Glenn) FRESHWATER, Fairfield; Mrs. Floyd BEST, Fairfield; Mrs. Gilbert SHAW, Mt. Pleasant; and seven grandchildren.

She is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Effie OLIPHANT, Chicago, Ill., and Mrs. Fred LEYPOLDT, Denver. Colo.

One daughter and two brothers preceded her in death.
