Page 3, Column 3FUNERAL OF MISS FOGARTY
Solemn High Mass Was Celebrated at St. Mary's Catholic Church.Yesterday morning at 10 o'clock at St. Mary's catholic church in this city Solemn High mass was held over the remains of Miss Nellie FOGARTY. Father Bulger of Ottumwa and Father Guylan of Albia assisted Father Hogan. After this service Father Hogan delivered the funeral address taking as his text these words "Let Your Faith be a Resonable One." He paid a beautiful tribute to the life of the deceased, her faith and her works.
The choir solemnly rendred the mass in a touching and sympathetic manner. Miss Josephine Baker of Mt. Pleasant, an intimate froend of the deceased sang "I shall see him face to face." At the close of the services the choir softly sang "Nearer my God to Thee." George Bonfield, J. F. Ready, Frank Droz, John Hammon of this city, George Hayes of Oskaloosa and Otto FRITZ of Brighton were the pall bearers. The profusion of beautiful flowers betokened the sympathies of a large circle of friends.
The deceased was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas FOGARTY of this city and had lived here all her life. As was mentioned in Monday's issue she was 45 years of age and received her education in the public schools of this city. She was a student at the Catholilc school here for some time. Miss FOGARTY was a devout catholic and was known by her many kind acts and her sympathies for those who mourned. The Grim Reaper Death came so suddenly to claim his own that the shock was a severe one to all her loved ones. She passed to her reward Sunday morning at 8:30 o'clock in the Burlington hospital where she had gone for an operation.
Beside her parents the deceased leaves two sisters, Mrs. John FRITZ of this city and Mrs. Thomas McMAHON of Burlington to mourn her departure.
Among those present at the funeral were Mrs. Tressa Smith, Miss Etta Jones, Miss Josephine Baker, Mt. Pleasant; Mr. and Mrs. Thomas McMAHON and children, John and Helen, Mrs. Robert Fay and son Francis of Burlington; Mrs. J. P. Ryan of Muscatine, Otto FRITZ and sisters Veronica and Bertha of Brighton; Dan Moroney and family of Galesburg; Mrs. James Byron Burlington; Mrs. D. R. Mesmer of Ottumwa, and George Hayes of Oskaloosa.

Miss Nellie Cecilia FOGARTY of this city died in Mercy hospital, Burlington, Sunday morning, where she had been the subject of a surgical operation the previous day. She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas FOGARTY, was forty-five years of age and was born and reared in this city. Miss FOGARTY was an excellent woman in all that the word implies, and had many warm friends in this city who will sincerely mourn her death. Her aged parents and two sisters, Mrs. John H. FRITZ of this city and Mrs. Thomas McMAHON of Burlington, survive her. Funeral services were held at St. Mary's church yesterday morning and the solemn requiem mass was celebrated by Rev. H. J. Hogan, Father Geinan of Albia and Father Bulger of South Ottumwa. Father Hogan delivered a beautiful sermon, in which he paid a high tribute to the excellences of character which mark the lives of good women.

Miss Nellie FOGARTY, sister of Mrs. John FRITZ, Died at Hospital There Sunday.Misss (sic) Nellie FOGARTY, who went to Burlington and was operated upon Saturday morning, passed away at 8:30 o'clock. The remains were brought to her home in this city Sunday night and the funeral will be held Tuesday morning at ten o'clock from Saint Mary's Catholic church of which the deceased was a member.
The death of Miss FOGARTY comes as a great shock to her relatives and many friends here. This is the second operation to which she has submitted during the past four years and the fatal result was not thought for a minute by the relatives.
Deceased was born in this city about forty-five years ago and is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas FOGARTY, who live on West Stone street. She was a student of the Fairfield public schools in early life and also attended the Catholic school here for nearly five years. She was devoted to the church and her life was a beautiful exemplification of her religious beliefs and duties.
Beside her parents Miss FOGARTY is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Thomas McMAHON, of Burlington, and Mrs. John FRITZ, of this city. A large circle of friends mourn the death of the deceased and will extend their heart felt sympathies to the bereaved ones during their hour of sorrow.

The friends of the late Nellie FOGARTY and of the family were shocked and painfully surprised to learn of her death, which occurred at the Mercy hospital, Burlington, last Saturday (sic).
Miss FOGARTY had not been in the best of health for some time and in the hope of regaining health and strength had gone to the Mercy hospital for treatment. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas FOGARTY and was born and raised in Fairfield. She was a devout member of St. Mary's Catholic church and has ever been an earnest church worker and her life was an example of the beautiful faith which was her heritage. The remains were brought to her Fairfield home and funeral services conducted from St. Marys church, yesterday morning at 10 o'clock, solemn high mass being celebrated by Rev. Father Hogan, assisted by Reverends Father Ginan, of Albia, and Father Bulger, of Ottumwa.
The following named out of town friends and relatives were in attendance: Miss Josephine Baker, Mt. Pleasant; Mrs. D. R. Mesmer, of Ottumwa; Dan Moroney, wife and daughter, Eulalie, of Galesburg, Ill.; Thos. McMAHON, wife and son, of Burlington; Otto FRITZ, and sisters, Bertha and Veronica, of Brighton; Mrs. Dr. Smith and Miss Etta Jones, of Mt. Pleasant; Mrs. J. C. Grimes, of Muscatine; Mrs. Robert Fay and son, of Burlington.
She leaves to mourn her loss, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thos. FOGARTY and two sisters, Mrs. Jno. FRITZ, of this city, and Mrs. Thomas McMAHON, of Burlington. She will also be greatly missed by St. Mary's congregation and many other friends who all extend their sympathy to the bereaved ones.
