Leonard FLEIG Dies Suddenly

Leonard F. FLEIG, well known Jefferson county farmer, died suddenly last night or early this morning at his farm home four miles north of Fairfield. He suffered a heart attack.

He and his wife were watching television last night. She went on to bed, but he said he was going to stay up until he heard the football scores.

Mrs. FLEIG woke up early this morning and discovered that he had not been in bed. She found him dead in his chair with the television still on.

Last rites will be Monday at 2 p.m. at the hoskins Funeral home with the Rev. Wilson Hyde of Des Moines in charge. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.

Leonard F. FLEIG, 59, was born Dec. 11, 1898, at Rubio, Iowa, the son of William and Margaret HYDE FLEIG. He was reared and educated in the Rubio and Richland communities, and was married to LaRue FISCHER on Aug. 26, 1924, at Oskaloosa.

A resident of Jefferson county for the past 16 years, he was a member of the Masonic lodge, White Shrine and Odd Fellows. He was a member of the Friends church and a director of the Production Credit association of Mt. Pleasant. He had also served as a director of Center school district.

Besides his wife he is survived by three children: Bill FLEIG, Richland; Milburn FLEIG, Birmingham, and Merrell, at home. He is also survived by his parents who reside in Fairfield; one brother, Gilbert, of Cherokee; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one sister.
