Page TWO, Column 3MRS. FISCHER DIES AT HOME
Well-known Farm Woman Of Jefferson County Ill For Year and HalfMrs. L. L. FISCHER, well-known Jefferson county farm woman, passed away today at her home four miles north of Fairfield.
Mrs. FISCHER had been in poor health for the past year and a half, and was seriously ill for three months preceding her death.
Mrs. FISCHER was born Phoebe FERRELL (sic - FERREL), at Burlington on May (sic - March) 2, 1870. She was married to L. L. FISCHER on Dec. 30, 1897. She made her home in this county for 40 years(.)
The husband and two children, Larue Jane FLIGG (sic - FLEIG) of Stockport and Robert F FISCHER of Fairfield, survive. Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Mary OSBORN of Omaha, Nebr., and Mrs. Mary HAGERLA of West Burlington; two brothers, John and Robert, both of Burlington, and five grandchildren.
The body was brought to the Hoskins Funeral home in Fairfield.

Page TWO, Column 6FUNERAL SERVICES HELD YESTERDAY FOR MRS. FISCHER
Funeral services were held yesterday here for Mrs. Phoebe FARRELL (sic - FARREL) FISCHER who was born March 2, 1870, and who died June 16.
She was born in Des Moines county near West Burlington and grew to womanhood in that vicinity. When a mere girl she was untied with the Methodist church at Burkes Chapel near her home. She was the youngest daughter of John and Jane FARRELL (sic).
On Dec. 30, 1897 she was united in marriage with Lawrence (Lon) FISCHER and since that time has lived at the family home north of Fairfield. To this union two children were born, La Rue Jane and Robert.
On July 26, 1935 she underwent a serious operation at the University Hospital in Iowa City from which she never fully recovered.
She leaves to mourn her loss, her sorrowing husband, a daughter, Mrs. Leonard FLEIG of near Stockport and a son Robert of near Fairfield, a step-daughter-in-law, Lucille FISCHER, five grand-step-children, two step-granddaughters, besides two sisters, Mrs. Mary OSBORN of Omaha, Nebr., Lidia HALGERIA (sic - HAGERLA) of West Burlington, two brothers, John of Burlington and Robert near West Burlington together with a host of relatives and friends.
The funeral services were held at the Hoskins Funeral home Thursday, June 18 conducted by Rev. S. P. Williamson, of the First Christian church of Fairfield. The hymns "Beautiful Isle," "Some Day We'll Understand" and "God Will Take Care of You" were sung by Mrs. Wm. Sever (sic - Stever) and Mrs. Norvell Switzer with Miss Reva Patten at the piano. Pall bearers were neighboring friends, Charley Walker, Bert Gann, John Sipe, Charles Hedge, Roy Jewell and Mervin Grosscup. The remains were interred in the Evergreen cemetery.
