JOHN ANTHONY MILLANE
Packwood

John Anthony MILLANE was one of nine children born to John F. and Cecilia (ARNDT) MILLANE. John (Bud) and his twin sister were born on April 23, 1930. Ninety-one years later, on Feb. 27, 2022, he has left this earth a better place. Bud's kindness, wit and wisdom will forever remain with those who knew and loved him.

Bud graduated from Fairfield High School in 1948. He served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953 as corporal in the Counterintelligence Corps, stationed in Germany. He attended college at Creighton University, Loyola Marymount, and graduated from San Jose State in 1965 with a Bachelor of Arts, Mathematics.

In 1966, Bud left California, and returned to Iowa to farm with his Dad and his brothers, James, Joe and Leo as well as be a father figure to his 16 nieces and nephews. He resided in Packwood, Iowa, farming the land and raising livestock. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, snowmobiling and being with family and friends.

Bud's nieces and nephews were his children. Uncle Bud taught them how to enjoy the outdoors, be hard workers, be accepting of others, as well as how to play kings corner checkers, trouble and other games. Uncle Bud was a good listener, storyteller and teacher. He loved a good conversation and a good joke; and the best was when he smiled, his eyes smiled too. He kept up with current events, the grain markets and with his family's adventures and points of view. He lived life simply and taught many people by his loving example.

To remember Bud's stories and hold his memory close are his brothers, James (Marge) MILLANE and Ed (Ardelle) MILLANE; his nieces and nephews, John PEIFFER, Ann PEIFFER, Jeff HAMMES, Janet LICITRA, Steve MILLANE, Lori MERCURIO, Carol BIESANZ, Sara GREINER, Joan EDWARDS, Karen CHRISTENSEN, Kathy NASLUND, Ed GREINER, Patty PEIFFER, Kathy BAILEY, Julie TOBIN and Rose WARHANK; and 33 great-nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by siblings, Leo MILLANE, Joe MILLANE, Kathryn GREINER, Sister Jane Francis MILLANE (his twin), Rita HAMMES and Sister Pacelli MILLANE; and a great-nephew.

Memories and condolences can be shared online at www.cranstonfamilyfuneralhome.com or mailed to James MILLANE, 1609 Dogwood, Fairfield, IA 52556, and Ann PEIFFER, 410 Arbor Glen Dr., Ballwin, MO 63021.

The fmaily is thankful for the compassionate teams that recently helped care for Uncle Bud at Jefferson County Health Center and Parkview of Fairfield, IA 52556 and Compassus Hospice of Wahsington, 119 E. Second St., Washington, IA 52353. The service and burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, please take the time to show kindness and share your wisdom with those around you.
