FairfieldMerrill "Dean" RILEY, 88, of Fairfield, passed away Monday, February 28, 2022, at Parkview Care Center.
Visitation for family & friends will be 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, March 12, 2022, at Behner Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to Jefferson County Fair Board or VFW and mailed to Rusty SIMPSON, 113 Washington Street, Libertyville, IA 52567.
Dean was born August 2, 1933, in Wapello County to Gerald and Florence (SCHOOLEY) RILEY. Dean's lifelong partner was Darlene DRAKE. She passed away November 28, 2020.
Dean served in the Army during the Korean War (sic - Korean Conflict). He owned his own auction service called D&D Sales. Dean also worked at Building Supplies, Wick Buildings, Cleary Building and Bonanza Building building pole barns, garages and garage doors. Dean was an avid horseman. Most important was spending time with family and friends.
Dean will be missed by his daughter, Vivian "Christine" RILEY of Fairfield, and her children, Aaron (Sydney) PRICE and Lacey (Jeramie) PRICE-BURTON; son, Monte Blaine RILEY of Fairfield, and his children, Natasha BRANHAM and Mason RILEY; and son, Rusty SIMPSON of Libertyville, and his children, Zachary, Brendan and Emily SIMPSON. Several great-grandchildren and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Florence; lifelong partner, Darlene DRAKE; and three brothers, Verlyn "Cloyce" RILEY, Mervin "Rex" RILEY and Dwight Wendell RILEY.
