... Rev. Wm. J. FARBER whose illness has been noted in these colnmns (sic) died at 8:30 yesterday morning. The funeral will occur at his late residence on North Main street at 2:30 this afternoon. We have no data from which to give an obituary today. ...

William J. FARBER, a veteran of the Civil war, died in this city Thursday. He had been practically disabled ever since the close of the war as a result of his army service, and for six months past had been almost helpless. Mr. FARBER was born in Clinton county, N. Y., and was sixty-seven years of age. He grew to manhood there and when the rebellion came enlisted in a New York cavalry regiment, with which he saw some arduous service, for he was with Gen. Kilpatrick most of the time. After his discharge he removed to Wisconsin, where he was engaged for twenty-one years as a teacher. In 1893 he removed to this city with his sister, Mrs. Mary A. KELLOGG, with whom he has since made his home. Mr. FARBER was a man of education and intelligence, honest, conscientious, a brave soldier and a most excellent citizen. He was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church for many years. funeral services were held Friday and the remains were interred in the Evergreen cemetery. Rev. I. O. Kemble conducted these services.

Obituaries.

Rev. Wm. J. FARBER was born in Clinton county, New York, February 17th, 1834, and died July 18th, 1901, aged 67 years, 5 months and 1 day.

Having obtained a sufficient education to teach he began at the age of 17 years to teach in the public school of his native state. He enlisted August 31st, 1862 in Co. C 2d New York cavalry and held the position of chaplain and later as an orderly or dispatch-bearer. He was thrown from his horse while on duty and was so severly injured that he was discharged from the service and never fully recovered from the injuries. He was a member of the M. E. church and is said to have been actively engaged in the work of spreading the glad tidings of salvation.

The funeral services were held at the residence Friday, July 19th, conducted by Rev. I. O. Kemble.
