H. ENGSTRAND DIES AT IOWA CITY HOSPITAL
Well-Known Fairfield Resident Passes Following Long Illness

Harry ENGSTRAND, 105 North 6th street, passed away at the hospital in Iowa City this morning, following a period of ill health of over eight months duration (note: in Johnson Co., IA).

The body will be brought to Fairfield by the Hoskins Funeral Directors.

Mr. ENGSTRAND was born in and reared in Jefferson county. For a number of years he was employed with Thomas Hannah in the Buick garage and later with the Youngkin Chevrolet Garage. For a period he was engaged in farming, and then he again joined Mr. Younkin, this time in the Ford Garage, where he was employed until his health broke. He was an active member of the First Lutheran church of this city, and a member of the Elks lodge.

Surviving him are his wife and one son, Bobby, his father, John W. ENGSTRAND, and a sister, Mrs. Glenn BATES. His mother Mrs. Ellen ENGSTRAND, passed away last May 6th.

John ENGSTRAND and Mr. BATES drove to Iowa City this morning. Mrs. ENGSTRAND was with her husband in Iowa City.

Funeral Services For Harry ENGSTRAND To Be On Thursday

Funeral services for Harry ENGSTRAND, who passed away yesterday morning in Iowa City, will be held Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock in the First Lutheran church, in charge of Dr. W. F. Rex. Arrangements are in charge of Hoskins funeral directors. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.

OBITUARY

HARRY W. ENGSTRAND

Harry William ENGSTRAND, son of John W. and Ellen ENGSTRAND was born January 10, 1898 on a farm near Salina.

He was baptized in infancy in the Salina Swedish Lutheran church and confirmed in early youth in the Swedish Lutheran church of Fairfield. Some years ago he became identified with the First Evangelical Lutheran church of Fairfield, ahd here he communed and worshiped (sic) unto the end.

On November 28, 1923 he was united in marriage to Miss Alfreda BLOMGREN of Ottumwa. To this union was born one child, Robert William. Mr. and Mrs. ENGSTRAND spent almost all of their married life in Fairfield.

He passed to his eternal reward after months of illness and an heroic strugle to overcome his physical ailment, Sept. 21, 1937 at the University hospital in Iowa City, aged 39 years, 8 months and 11 days.

There remain to mourn his homegoing, his wife, his son, his father, John ENGSTRAND and one sister, Mrs. Hattie BATES and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, who passed away on May 6 of this year.

Funeral services were held Sept. 23, 1937 at the First Lutheran church in Fairfield conducted by Dr. W. F. Rex.

The pallbearers were Dan Nelson, Levie Garber, Richard Gaines, Floyd Gaines, Raymond Smith and A. H. Lindsay.

A quartet composed of George Van Nostrand, Paul Coleson, Joe Stuckey and Ray Mulkins with Marshall Barnes as accompanist sand "Lead Kindly Light" and "The Old Rugged Cross."

Burial took place in the Evergreen cemetery, Fairfield.

Relatives from a distance were Mrs. August MUNSON of Magnolia, Ill.; Mrs. Lyle MUNSON of Henry, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. August BLOMGREN, Mr. and Mrs. I. L. BLOMGREN, Mr. and Mrs. R. V. BLOMGREN and son of Ottumwa; Mr. and Mrs. R. C. LATHAM and daughter, Mrs. J. O. SAMUELSON, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. N. CORNICK, all of Omaha, Nebraska.
