AGED RESIDENT DEATH SUNDAY
James A. ELY, Retired Farmer, Dies at Home On South Main

James Albert ELY, 75 years of age, passed away at his home, 1007 South Main street, Sunday morning. The death of the aged man followed a long illness. He was a retired farmer who formerly lived southwest of Birmingham.

Mr. ELY is survived by his wife and two children, Mrs. Floy MILLER of Fairfield and a son George, of Canada. A first wife preceded him in death about seven years ago.

Funeral arrangements will not be made until word has been received from the son in Canada. Illness is expected to prevent his coming to Fairfield. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.

FUNERAL RITES FOR JAMES ELY ARE TOMORROW

Funeral services for James A. ELY who died here Sunday morning will be held Wednesday afternoon at 3:30 o'clock at the Murray Funeral Home. Dr. U. S. Smith of the Methodist church will be in charge. Burial is to be in Evergreen cemetery.

Mr. ELY resided at 1007 South Main street and was a retired farmer who came to Fairfield from southwest of Birmingham.

Note: Buried in Lot 3rd.047 with first wife Clara Jane MORT ELY who died in 1926. His second wife was Irona S. HOOTMAN PORTER, who he married in Ottumwa on March 29, 1927. She died in 1945 and was buried in Maple Hill Cemetery, Birmingham, IA.
