Funeral Services Wednesday Afternoon At 2:30 From The M. E. Church

Mrs. J. A. ELY passed away this morning at 10:30 oclock at her home 1107 South Main street. She had been ill since last November. Funeral arrangements have not been made. She is survived by her husband, a son in Canada and a daughter, Mrs. Flossie MILLER of Keosauqua.

Will Be Held at M. E. Church In Charge of Rev. Pool; Interment at Evergreen

Funeral services for Mrs. J. A. ELY who passed away yesterday morning at 10:30 oclock at her home, 1107 South Main street will be held Wednesday fternoon at 2:30 oclock at the Methiodist church in charge of Rev. J. W. Pool of Keokuk, an old friend of the family, assisted by Dr. H. B. Scoles. Williams Brothers of Birmingham will have charge of the song service. Interment will be made in the Evergreen cemetery.

MRS. J. A. ELY IS LAID TO REST
Funearl Services Were Held Yesterday At First M. E. Church Here

The funeral service for the late Mrs. J. A. ELY were held at 2:30 oclock yesterday at the First Methodist church in Fairfield and were conducted by the Rev. J. W. Pool, pastor of the Keokuk Methodist church, assisted by her pastor, Dr. H. B. Scoles of the Fairfield Methodist church. The Williams Brothers quartet of Birmingham sang three beautiful selections.

The friends attending from a distance were Mr. and Mrs. Ray I. Smith of Burlington, Robert ELY of Mt. Pleasant, Mrs. Kargaret KENT, Mr. and Mrs. S. W. KENT and Miss Ollie KENT of Ottumwa.

It was the request of the deceased that Rev. Pool preach the funeral sermon and the Williams Brothers sing. They were all old friends of the family.

The pallbearers were George Workman, George H. Isreal, S. I. Downs, Levi Bray, Harry Lyons and John Rogers.

Interment was in Evergreen cemetery.

OBITUARY

MRS. J. A. ELY

Clara MORT ELY, daughter of J. C. and Sarah Jane MORT, was born in Van Buren county, Iowa, April 25, 1862 and departed this life at her home in Fairfield, Iowa, April 12, 1926.

She was married to James Albert ELY September 4th, 1883. To this union two children were born, George F., of Red Deer, Alberta, Canada and Mrs. Floy MILLER of near Keosauqua., Iowa.

All of Mrs. ELY's life was spent in Van Buren and Jefferson counties except when in school in Jacksonville, Ill., and visits with her son in Canada and other relatives in the western states.

Mrs. ELY united with the Methodist Episcopal church when a girl and has ever remained a devoted and loyal servant of her Lord and faithful and untiring in her devotion to her church.

She was a faithful wife and mother and a devoted and loyal friend. She leaves to mourn her departure, the husband, son and daughter, twin grandsons, Lex and Leo MILLER, an adopted son of George F. and wife and one sister Mrs. Margaret KENT of Ottumwa, Iowa.
