OBITUARY

MRS. GRANT ELLSWORTH

Martha MONSON ELLSWORTH, died at the Washington Boulevard Hospital, Chicago, Illinois, at 3:30 a.m. February 15th, 1926, after an illness of about five weeks, caused by a nervous break down.

She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alexander MONSON of Fairfield, Iowa, and was born near Salina, this county, April 26th, 1886. She lived with her parents, was educated and grew to womanhood at this their country home. She became a proficient Bible student in her confirmation class at the Salina Lutheran church and was admitted into full membership of this church early in life. She came to Fairfield with her parents, an dher (sic) membership was transferred to the First English Lutheran church at Fairfield.

On August 12th, 1913 she was united in marriage to Grant M. ELLSWORTH of Chicago, Illinois. These young people made their home here at Fairfield for several years and built up around them a host of true and trusted friends. A few years ago they moved to Glen Ellyn, Ill., near the city of Chicago, where they have lived happy and contented ever since. Fourteen months ago a daughter was born to them and all was well and lovely until Monday morning when death entered and snatched mother away.

To Mr. and Mrs. Alexander MONSON, were born eight children and Martha being next to the oldest. Three daughters and two sons have preceded Martha to their heavenly home. Her surviving loved ones are: Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alexander MONSON. Her husband Grant M. ELLSWORTH. Her sister, Mrs. J. F. SWAN. Her brother Clair MONSON. Many other relatives and friends mourn the loss of a real friend and companion.

Martha was a daughter of the truest and finest character, obedient and happy in her parental home. The love for her mother and father, was that of real reverence and respect. She was devoted to her invalid mother in untiring service and prayer. For her husband and daughter she lived the life of a true christian wife and mother. She was continually doing good works for her loved ones and her friends.

In her church work at Salina and Fairfield Lutheran churches and the First M. E. church at Glen Ellyn, Illinois, of which she was a member when death came, she was active and faithful. She loved to worship God and serve her Master. Her life was that of a fine devoted christian, a kind and loving daughter and mother, a dutiful and trusted wife, and a true friend, loved and esteemed by all.
