Page 13, Column 2... Samuel ELLIS, one of the oldest colored residents of the city, died at his home on West Briggs St. Saturday morning after an illness of several months. Funeral services were held at the home Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock conducted by Rev. Williams of the Bethel A. M. E. church and interment made in Evergreen Cemetery. ...

Samuel ELLIS, a well known colored resident of this city, died this morning about 12;30 o'clock at his home on West Briggs street after several months suffering with rheumatism and heart disease. The deceased had resided in this city for a number of years.
He is survived by his wife and several step children, besides one sister Mrs. Rosa DOBBIN and two brothers, who live in Kansas City, Mo. No definite arrangements have yte (sic) been made for the funeral owing to the expected arrival of the brothers and sisters.

The funeral of Samuel ELLIS who died Saturday morning at his home on West Briggs street after several months illness was held this afternoon at two o'clock at the Bethel A. M. E. church. Rev. Williams had charge of the services.
The services were largely attended as Mr. ELLIS was one of the oldest of the colored residents and was well known to a large number of people. The interrment took place in Evergreen cemetery. Several friends and relatives from a distance arrived this morning to be present at the funeral.
