Death Comes To Ransom R. ELDER

Ransom R. ELDER, life-time resident of Jefferson county, passed away early this morning at the Curtis Nursing home here in Fairfield where he had been a patient for some time. He suffered a stroke two years ago and had been seriously ill the past two weeks.

Last rites will be Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at the Hoskins funeral home with the Rev. S. P. Williamson in charge. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.

Ransom R. ELDER, 68, was born July 20, 1884 (sic - 1882), in Jefferson county, the son of the late St. Clair and Amanda LAWSON ELDER.

He was united in 1903 to Velma Jane SEARS who preceded her husband in death on Jan. 29, 1929. The couple made their home in this community during their entire married life and Mr. ELDER was employed by the C. B. & Q. railroad for a number of years before his retirement.

He is survived by one son, Charles W. ELDER, San Francisco, Cal.; and a daughter, Mrs. J. Paul ANDERSON, Topeka, Kan. He is also survived by a grandson, Charles William ANDERSON; a half-sister, Mrs. Carroll HANEY, Libertyville; and a half-brother, Harley ELDER, Davenport.

R. R. ELDER Rites To Be Wednesday

Last rites for Ransom R. ELDER will be Wednesday morning at 10:30 a.m. at the Hoskins funeral home. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.

Friends may call at the Hoskins funeral home this evening according to an announcement made from there this morning. The announcement further stated the casket will not be open for the service tomorrow morning.

Mr. ELDER passed away Monday morning at the Curtis Nursing home following a lengthy illness.
