J. Eugene ELDER dies Suddenly

J. Eugene ELDER, manager of the Imperial Oil Station west on Highway 34 for the past 13 years, died suddenly about 4 a.m. Sunday at his home located southwest of Fairfield on Liberty Drive.

Last rites will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Raymond Funeral Home with Evangelist Darrell Bridgewater officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

J. Eugene ELDER, 46, was born June 22, 1923, in Fairfield, the son of William and Nellie DAVISON ELDER. He was reared and educated in Libertyville.

He was married to Lillian TOWNLEY in Tulsa, Okla., on July 5, 1943, who survives. ELDER was a member of the Christian Church, Eagles and Walton Club.

In addition to his wife he is survived by four sons, Charles, Fairfield; Gary, Kirkland, Ill.; James and David, at home; also one daughter, Deborah, at home.

Other survivors include his father, William ELDER, Muscatine; one granddaughter; a sister, Mrs. Willard BOWERMASTER, Libertyville; and two brothers, Richard, Muscatine, and Merlin, Fairfield.

He was preceded in death by his mother and one daughter.
