HUBERT ELDER DIES AFER LONG ILLNESS AT OAKDALE, IA.,

Word was received here of the death of Hubert ELDER, which occurred at 12:15 o'clock this afternoon at the Oakdale hospital (note: in Johnson Co., IA). Mr. ELDER had been at Oakdale for treatment since June. He was a highly respected citizen of Fairfield, and his wamily (sic) have the sympathy of a host of friends and acquaintances.

He was employed at the Fairfield Mitten Co., and was a member of the Fairfield band. Mrs. ELDER, who had just returned from Oakdale, left today for that place, and the body will be brot (sic) to Fairfield. Funeral arrangements have been completed this afternoon.

FUNERAL SERVICES FOR HUBERT ELDER HELD TOMORROW AT 3 P.M.

Funeral services for Hubert ELDER will be held tomorrow afternoon at three o'clock at the English Lutheran church, conducted by the pastor, Rev. H. A. Anspach. Interment will be in Evergreen cemetery.

LIFE OF HUBERT ELDER

Hubert ELDER was born in Fairfield, Iowa, Feb. 3rd, 1885, and died at the Oakdale Sanitarium, Sept. 16th, 1920 of toxic poisoning.

He was united in marriage with Flora LOCKHART, at Lucas, Iowa, on July 25th, 1904, who with one daughter, Adra, survives.

He united with the English Lutheran church at Fairfield, in June, 1908, and was at the time of his death a member of the Baracca class. He was also a member of the I. O. O. F. No. 629, F. A. A. No. 664 and M. W. A. No. 246 lodges, and the band section of the Headquarters Company, Fourth Infantry, U. S. N. G.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday afternoon. Interment was in Evergreen cemetery.

Note: Buried in Lot 2nd.213. He shares his stone with an Addie JUNE, believed to be an aunt of his. Wife Flora subsequently married Walter L. EDWARDS, died in 1972, and was buried with Walter on the same lot as Hubert.
