ELDER death

Harley ELDER, 73, Rural Route, Selma, died Monday at the Ottumwa Hospital (note: in Wapello Co., IA). The body is at the Raymond Funeral Home where services are pending.

ELDER rites on Friday

Services for Harley F. ELDER, 72, native of Fairfield, will be Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the Raymond Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Evergreen where military services will be conducted.

ELDER died Monday at 3:15 p.m. Prior to moving to the Jefferson Square Manor in Ottumwa he had lived on Route 1, Selma.

Harley F. ELDER was born Dec. 28, 1906, in Fairfield. He was the son of St Clair and Tressa DAVIS ELDER.

He was reared and educated in Fairfield and was married to Grace ADLER May 4, 1957, in Fairfield. ELDER was a veteran of World War II and served in the Navy in the Afro-European Theater.

He was a resident of Davenport where he was employed at Oscar Mayer meat producing plant until his retirement in 1965.

In addition to his widow, he is survived by a sister, Margaret HANEY, Fairfield; a step-daughter, Mary Jane HERGENRADER, Lincoln, Neb.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.

Note: Buried in Lot 3rd.220 with wife Grace, to whom he was married twice. They first married January 30, 1933 in Fairfield. In 1935, she was married in Oskaloosa, IA, to Aubrey Pearl CALHOON. She was married a third time in 1945 (to whom?), and in 1957 she and Harley reunited. She died in 1987 and was buried with Harley.
