OBITUARY

FRANCIS S. EDMONDS

Francis Silas EDMONDS, was born in Garnaville, Iowa, June 17, 1890, and departed this life at the Jefferson County hospital, Fairfield, Iowa, at eight oclock Sunday evening, January 14, 1923 at the age of 32 years and seven months, having been in ill health for the past eighteen months.

Francis was a well known young man having spent most of his life in and around Fairfield. For quite a number of years he lived at Glasgow, Iowa, where at the age of nine years he joined the Methodist church and on coming to Fairfield placed his membership in the Methodist church here. He was also a member of the Odd Fellow, Eagles and Yoeman (sic) fraternities.

He was a most enthusiastic member of the fire department, always responding willingly and promptly to its service.

Being the youngest at home he was a companion of his aged mother who will feel the loss most keenly. His many friends will remember him as one of willing service, generous and pleasant.

He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Hattie EDMONDS, two brothers, Herbert of Fairfield, Max of St. Paul, Minn., and a sister, May, of Des Moines, Iowa.

Funeral services were held from the Christian church by the pastor, Rev. R. H. Polly, Tuesday, January 16, 1923 at two oclock. Interment was made in Evergreen cemetery.
