Percy James EASTON, a former long-time druggist in Fairfield, died at 3 a.m. today at the St. Francis Hospital in Burlington (note: in Des Moines Co., IA). He had been in failing health for the past several months.
The body is at the Raymond funeral home where last rites are pending.
EASTON owned and operated the drug store on the west side of the square where Martins is now located for a number of years. To his many friends he was known as "PJ".
Before purchasing the store himself, he was in business with the late Fred Jericho and the store was known as Jericho and Easton.
EASTON sold the firm to Arch Jones, Chariton, in 1933 and it was known as Jones Bros. Pharmacy until they sold to Virgil Campbell. Campbell sold to E. A. Martin, present owner, in 1937.
Percy James EASTON was born Jan. 27, 1887, in Fairbury, Ill., the son of Alexander and Jennie Travis JOHNSON EASTON. He was married in Fairfield in 1918 to Lucille WISECARVER. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church, Veteran of World War I, and a 32nd Degree Mason.
After selling his store in Fairfield, he was associated with the Rexall Drug Company in California for 26 years. Later he returned to Burlington, Iowa.
In addition to his wife, EASTON is survived by one brother, Oscar A. EASTON, Fairfield; two nieces, Mrs. Charles McCLAIN and Mrs. Wilbur MAYER, both of Fairfield; one nephew, Robert EASTON, Reno, Nevada; and a cousin, Mrs. M. W. PARSONS, Burlington.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Harvey L. EASTON.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday for Percy James EASTON, former long-time druggist in Fairfield.
The services will be held at Evergreen cemetery with the Rev. James Robertson officiating. Arrangements are in charge of the Raymond Funeral Home.
EASTON passed away early Monday morning at the St. Francis Hospital in Burlington. He had made his home in Burlington for the past two years.
