William DUNLAP Called Home.

William DUNLAP, for many years one of Lockridge township's best known and most esteemed citizens, died at his home in Salina Monday evening. He had been in ill health, from ailments incidental to advanced years, for some time past, and his death was not unexpected. Mr. DUNLAP was born in Adams county, O., October 22d, 1821, grew to manhood there and was married to Mary DE WITT in 1844. They were the parents of eight children. The family came to Jefferson county in 1870, after a residence of several years in Marion, Mahaska and Henry counties. The wife died here several years ago, and some time thereafter Mr. DUNLAP was married to Mrs. LONG of Salina, who survives him. Mr. DUNLAP had been a member of the Methodist Episcopal church for many years and his life was thoroughly consistent with its teachings. He was kindly in his manner, patient with the faults of others, honest, industrious, a model man and citizen. He early gained the confidence of the community and maintained it during the thirty-seven years of his residence here. Many friends throughout the county will learn of his death with genuine regret. The body will be interred in the Evergreen cemetery, this city, today.

William DUNLAP died at his home in Salina Monday evening, after an illness of many months duration. He was in the 87th year of his age. For, probably, 30 years he lived on a farm east of Salina but moved into town several years ago. He was a member of the Methodist church and was one of the best men we ever knew. The funeral services were held at 10 o'clock Wednesday at Salina and the body was brought to this city and buried in the Evergreen cemetery. We hope to have an obituary next week.
