Front Page, Column 6MRS. C. DUBOIS DIED YESTERDAY
Funeral Services Will Be Held Wednesday at 2:30 From the Home of Her SonMrs. Cornelia Du BOIS died early Sunday morning at the home of her son, William Du BOIS, northeast of Fairfield. She had been seriously sick for several months and the end came quietly and peacefully after a week in which her strength gradually waned.
Mrs. Du BOIS was a woman whom it was a privilege to know. Herself always loyal to the high principles which guided her through life, she had yet a broad and tolerant view of human failings and weaknesses and the mantle of her charity never failed to cover the shortcomings of others. Quiet and retiring her circle of friends was not large, but all who knew her admired the depth and the strength and the sweetness of her character. Affliction and suffering were borne with remarkable patience and with a courage that never faltered. In thought and word and deed she belonged to that noble sisterhood which all men admire and revere--a good woman, true always to her sense of duty and right, loyal to her duty to others, helpful and kindly and broadly charitable.
Mrs. Du BOIS was the oldest child of Mr. and Mrs. John MARCY. She was married Nov. 24, 1886, to Nathaniel S. Du BOIS, who died July 2, 1892. Three children were born to this union--William M. Du BOIS of this city, Thomas K. Du BOIS of Palmyra, Missouri, and Charlotte, who died in early girlhood.
The funeral will be held Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 oclock at the home of Willam Du BOIS and the services will in charge of Dr. U. S. Smith of the Methodist church of which deceased was a member. Friends and family are invited to attend. Interment will be made in Evergreen cemetery, the services at the grave being private.
It is requested that no flowers be sent.
