Mrs. DOUGLAS' Funeral.

The funeral of Mrs. Sophia DOUGLAS, who died Tuesday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John KOONTZ, six miles northwest of this city, was held yesterday morning at the KOONTZ home. Rev. Pearse Pinch, pastor of the Congregational church, conducted the last services.

The remains were brought to this city and interred in Evergreen cemetery.

Mrs. DOUGLAS was one of the oldest residents of the county being at the time of her death over 94 years of age. She is survived by seven children.

DEATHS

Sophia KING DOUGLAS.

Sophia KING was born in West Va. in 1812 and married to William DOUGLAS, a native of Scotland, in 1831. To them were born fourteen children, 7 of whom survive the parents, the husband having died some twenty-nine years ago.

Mrs. DOUGLAS and husband were among the early settlers of Jefferson county and since his death her home has been with her daughter, Mrs. J. C. KOONTZ. At the ripe old age of 94 she succumbed to the inevitable and departed this life March 11.

Funeral services were held from the KOOTNZ (sic) home Wednesday morning, conducted by Rev. Pearse Pinch, and the body laid to rest in Evergreen cemetery,.

Death of An Aged Woman.

Mrs. Sophia DOUGLAS died at the home of a daughter, Mrs. John C. KOONTZ, in Fairfield township, the 11th inst. Her maiden name was KING, she was born in Preston county, W. Va., December 26th, 1812, and was in the ninety-fifth year of her age. Her marriage with William DOUGLAS took place in 1831. They were the parents of fourteen children, seven of whom are living--Mrs. Alfred ARMSTRONG, Mrs. KOONTZ and Harriet DOUGLAS in county, Mrs. William ARMSTRONG at Laconner, Wash. (sic - La Conner, Washington), Mrs. Josiah ARMSTRONG at Tacoma, Wash., Mrs. John __RR (missing text) at Fayette, Iowa, and James DOUGLAS in Buchanan county, this state. The family came to this county in 1868, locating in Fairfield township, where they husband and father died ten years later. Mrs. DOUGLAS was a woman of many excellent qualities and her life was one of unusual activity. She had many warm friends in the community in which the last forty years of her life were spent and they will join the family in mourning her death. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Pearse Pinch of the Congregational church Wednesday, and the body was interred in this city.
