Samuel Clarence DOUGLAS, 76, well known Fairfield resident, died this morning of a cerebral hemorrhage at his home at 122 S. Main street. He had been in failing health for eight years and seriously ill for a day and a half.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at the Weston Behner Funeral home in charge of Dr. Curtis R. Douglass. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.
DOUGLAS was born June 6, 1875 in Jefferson county, the son of Albert and Sabra ARMSTRONG DOUGLAS. He was married to Mary Jane WEBBER Feb. 15, 1900, at Birmingham. He moved to Fairfield from Van Buren county in 1910 and later became plant manager for the Iowa Electric company, a position he held for more than 30 years. He retired in 1944.
DOUGLAS was a member of the local Masonic lodge and he and his wife were members of the Golden Wedding club.
Survivors include his wife, one daughter, Mrs. Lucille MORRISON, Dubuque, and two grandchildren. Three brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.
