L. A. DOUGHERTY Dies Suddenly

Lloyd A. DOUGHERTY, Fairfield, died suddenly at 11:55 a.m. today at the Jefferson County hospital.

His death occurred a few minutes after he was admitted to the hospital.

Last rites will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at the Raymond Funeral home with Mrs. Roy Louden in charge. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.

DOUGHERTY made his home at 904 E. Madison Ave.

DOUGHERTY Rites To Be Thursday

Last rites will be Thursday for Lloyd DOUGHERTY, veteran of two world wars, who died Monday morning shortly after his arrival at the Jefferson county hospital.

The services Thursday will be at 10 a.m. at the Raymond funeral home in charge of Mrs. Roy Louden. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.

DOUGHERTY had suffered from a heart condition since 1948. He suffered an attack at his home about 10:30 a.m. and was taken to the hospital where he died an hour later.

Lloyd A. DOUGHERTY, 71, was born Dec. 30, 1891, at Detroit, Mich., the son of Oliver and Elizabeth FAAES DOUGHERTY. He was reared and educated in the vicinity of Whiting and Gary, Ind.

On Aug. 29, 1924, he was married to Bessie KNOWLES. The marriage took place in Chicago.

DOUGHERTY was a member of the Masonic lodge, American Legion and the German Lutheran church at Whiting. He had served in the armed forces during both World War I and World War II.

In addition to his wife he is survived by two sisters; Mrs. Violet NAEF, East Alton, Ill., and Mrs. Grace YOUNG, Acme, Mich., and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.

Relatives Here To Attend Last Rites

Several out-of-state relatives were in Fairfield for the funeral services of Lloyd DOUGHERTY on Thursday.

His sister, Mrs. Donald NAEF of St. Louis and Mrs. DOUGHTERY's (sic) cousin, Mary HOOTMAN of Davenport left for their homes this morning.

Mrs. DOUGHTERY's (sic) brother, C.E. KNOWLES and his son, Richard of Gowanda, N. Y., and another son, Rick, who is a student at Northwestern university, left yesterday after attending the last rites.

Mrs. DOUGHTERY's (sic) sister, Mrs. Nellie WAITE of Alamogordo, N.M., who also came for the services, will remain a few days.
