Dell J. DEYOE, Local Florist, Taken In Death

Dell J. DEYOE, 62, Fairfield florist, died at 7:25 a.m. today at the Jefferson County hospital. He had been a patient there since suffering a heart attack on August 25.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery. The body is at the Raymond Funeral home. DEYOE resided at 1106 E. Burlington Ave. He had operated Coender's Greenhouse since coming to Fairfield 15 years ago.

He was born Feb. 19, 1901 at Fairmont, N.D., the son of Charles and Harriett SPAULDING DEYOE. He was reared and educated in Fairmont and Marion, N.D., graduating from North Dakota university in 1924 with a bachelor's degree in civil engineering.

DEYOE was married to Edith JONSON June 30, 1925 at Peoria, Ill. From 1924 to 1948 he served as a construction engineer for the Illinois Highway Commission.

He was a member of all Masonic bodies and the Shrine. He was also a member of the First Presbyterian church, Lions club and Elks and Eagles lodges (sic - Eagles Aerie/Club). He was a past director of the Southeast Iowa Florists society and Sigma Phi Delta.

Surviving are his wife and three sons, Charles Richard DEYOE, San Jose, Calif.; Warren Lynn DEYOE, Anaheim, Calif.; and Allen Spaulding DEYOE, Sioux City.

Other survivors are three grandchildren; two brothers, Cecil DEYOE, McFarland, Wis., and Roger DEYOE, Baldwin Park, Calif.; and one sister, Mrs. Grace JORDAN, Baldwin Park, Calif. His parents preceded him in death.

DEYOE Rites On Thursday

Last rites for Dell J. DEYOE, 62, Fairfield florist, will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Raymond Funeral home.

Services will be conducted by Edward M. Esler and the Rev. Hoyt Whitebread. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery with Masonic rites at the grave.

DEYOE died Tuesday morning at the Jefferson County hospital where he had been a patient since suffering a heart attack Aug. 25.

He had operated Coender's Greenhouse since moving to Fairfield 15 years ago.
