MRS. LYDIA DAY DIED THIS MORNING

Mrs. Lydia D. DAY passed away this morning shortly after 6 o'clock at the home of her daughter Mrs. COMINGORE on West Madison street after an illness of some time with a complication of diseases. She had been seriously ill for about a week.

Mrs. DAY was born near Chatham, New Jersey, January 24th, 1827, and grew to young womanhood there. She was twice married, her first husband being Jackson BURNETT. They came to Iowa and located near Fairfield about forty years ago. Mr. BURNETT met his death while cleaning a gun which he did not know was loaded.

Several years afterward Mrs. BURNETT became Mrs. William DAY and her husband passed adway (sic) twelve years ago last March. Mrs. DAY was the mother of four children, one son, J. M. BURNETT of Fort Gibson, Oklahoma, and three daughters, Ella and Ida having already preceeded her in death, and Mrs. John COMINGORE of this city. She is also survived by one stepdaughter, Mrs. James WALDEMEYER of Kansas City, Mo.

Mrs. DAY was a member of the Methodist church of this city for many years preceding her death. She was also one of the best known of the older residents of Jefferson county and her death will be sincerely mourned by scores of old friends.

The funeral will be held Monday afternoon at two o'clock at the residence and Dr. Thomas Osborn, pastor of the Methodist church will conduct the service.
