Lester CUPP, 74, dies

Lester R. CUPP, 74, 204 E. Madison, died Saturday, 3 p.m. at Jefferson County Hospital.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, 10:30 a.m. at Raymond Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles Kincaid officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will greet friends at the funeral home Monday from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m.

CUPP was born June 2, 1906 at West Plains, Mo., the son of George and Lottie E. McCLAIN CUPP. He attended school in West Plains, Keota and Fairfield. He married Alice WARD Sept. 17, 1938 in Memphis, Mo. They lived in Keota until 1945 when they moved to a farm north of Fairfield. They lived there until moving to Fairfield in 1954.

CUPP was employed at Dexter for 13 years. He and his wife owned and operated the Cupp Cafe on the south side of the square for six years and had managed the Ranch Motel and Trailer Court for the past 15 years until retiring in January.

Surviving are his wife; one son, Larry of Granger; three grandchildren; one great-grandson; one sister, Letha NELSON, Fairfield and one brother, Glenn CUPP of Keota. His parents and one brother preceded him in death.

We'd like to thank our friends and relatives for all the thoughtful deeds, gifts, and visits during the illness and loss of our loved one, Lester CUPP. We'd especially like to thank the Fairfield Clinic doctors, nurses and aides for their wonderful care. Also Rev. Kincaid for visits and prayers that were so comforting.
