... --Mr. and Mrs. William CUPP and daughter Maxine, Misses Ethel and Kate CUPP, Mrs. Kate CUPP and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Hiatt of this city and Mr. and Mrs. E. F. Pittman of Des Moines attended the funeral today at Keota of Dan CUPP, who passed away at Iowa City early Tuesday morning. Burial was in Evergreen cemetery.

DEATHS

CON CUPP

Don CUPP, 23, of Keota and grandson of Mrs. Kate CUPP of this city, passed away at the Iowa City hospital early Tuesday morning following an operation (note: in Johnson Co., IA).

Funeral services were held this afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Keota Christian church with interment in the local Evergreen cemetery.

Mr. CUPP is survived by his wife and three children, his father, A. B. CUPP of Keota and the following brothers and sisters: Eva, Esther and Robert, all at home.

OBITUARY

JOHN CHATTERTON CUPP

John Chatterton CUPP son of A. B. and Mary (CHATTERTON, CUPP was born Jan. 5-1908 near Fairfield Iowa and died at the University hospital at Iowa City at 1:30 a.m. July 28, 1931, aged 23 years, 6 months and 23 days. He was united in marriage to Miss Edith GALLUP of Fairfield, Iowa, October 25, 1926.

They became the parents of three children, Phyliss Eevlin (sic) aged 4 years; Mary Eloise; aged 2 years an infant son John born July 19, 1931.

Mr. CUPP united with the Christian church in 1916 at the age of 8 years under the preaching of the Rev. L. M. Doreen, then pastor of the local church.

He was a faithful member until death.

He is survived by his wife, their two daughters and one son, and by his father, A. B. CUPP, his two sisters Eva of Keota, Esther who makes her home at H. D. Hiatts and one brother, Robert of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and grandmother, Mrs. Kate CUPP of Fairfield. He is also survived by many other relatives and friends.

His mother Mary CHATTERTON CUPP preceded him in death in 1916.

He has been a sufferer from diabetes for the past four years and had been critically ill since a major operation was performed at the University hospital on July 3

In spite of his ill health during the long years, Mr. CUPP first thought has been for his family and he has worked many days when he should have been in bed.

He was a sunny, cheerful disposition and in spite of his suffering he always had a cheery word and a smile for all.

His passing leaves a vacant chair that never can be filled.
