Samuel Roush
July 01, 2005Samuel Roush, 84, of Dupo, Ill., formerly of Keosauqua, died at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, June 30, 2005, at Kenneth Hall Regional Hospital in East St. Louis, Ill.
The funeral is scheduled at 2 p.m. Saturday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, with the Rev. Harold Schnedler officiating. Burial with military rites by Beer-Barker Post No. 113 American Legion will be in Purdom Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the family present from 1-2 p.m. prior to the service.
Memorials may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at 600 Birchwood Court, Columbia, IL 62236.
Mr. Roush was born Nov. 3, 1920, near Douds, the son of Ray and Clair Barker Roush. He married Saxon Aylor Sept. 28, 1951, in Keosauqua. She died Sept. 8, 1993.
He farmed near Mount Sterling and was a self-employed carpenter. He also worked many years at Iowa Malleable Iron Co.
Mr. Roush served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include one son, Mark Roush and wife Helen of Columbia; two brothers, Robert Roush of Keosauqua and Carl Roush of Mount Sterling; four sisters, Alice Groene of Annadale, Va., Hazel Jean Roush of Keosauqua and Mildred Hutchinson and Frances Roush, both of Florissant, Mo.; and two grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Beatrice Panting, Janice Judd and Louise Nichols; and one brother, Keith Roush.
