Esther M. CROWL, 84, 305 E. Broadway, died at 10:20 p.m. Thursday at Parkview Care Center.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Raymond Funeral Home with the Rev. Clair Odell and the Rev. William Sullivan officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials to the Fairfield Art Association Leapfrog Sculpture Fund would be appreciated.
Mrs. CROWL was born March 30, 1902 at Monmouth, Ill., the daughter of George Harrison and Mary Catherine OSTRUM TAYLOR. She grew up in Monmouth and married Clark S. "Pat" CROWL Feb. 18, 1928 in Peoria, Ill. He died Nov. 29, 1969. In 1945 they moved to Fairfield, where they opened the Broadway Grill Jan. 15, 1947 and operated it until 1968, when they turned its operation over to their daughter. Mrs. CROWL continued her association with the restaurant through the years.
Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Marty and Jack TAYLOR of Fairfield; four grandchildren, Ann TAYLOR, Paul TAYLOR, both of Fairfield, John TAYLOR of Milwaukee, Wis., Todd TAYLOR of Peoria, Ill.; two great-granddaughters, Meghan and Brittany; a brother, Max TAYLOR of Salem, Ore.; three sisters, Louise MILLER of Monmouth, Ill., Mildred TALBOTT of Bend, Ore., Geraldine WALLEN of Inverness, Fla., several nieces and nephews. A sister and two brothers preceded her in death.
Mrs. CROWL was a member of First United Methodist Church, UMW Guild and the Philathea Class.
