George L. COX Dies Suddenly

George L. COX, native of Jefferson County and erection supervisor for Louden Division American Chain and Cable Co., died suddenly this morning at his home, 706 North B.

Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. with the place to be determined later. The services will be in charge of the Rev. Ned Gillum with burial in Evergreen Cemetery. The body is at the Raymond Funeral Home.

COX, 62, was employed at the Louden Machinery Company from 1922 to 1932. Leaving the Louden firm, he operated a Phillips 66 Service Station at the corner of Fifth and Burlington for 11 years.

He returned to the Louden firm in 1942 as erection supervisor and had held that position since. His work took him throughout the United States where Louden overhead carrier systems were being installed.

George L. COX was born Aug. 24, 1907, in Jefferson County, the son of Charles L. and Lela SHANER COX. He was reared and educated in Fairfield and was married to Margaret KLINGAMAN Aug. 26, 1927, in Fairfield. She survives.

He was a member of the Christian Church, Masons and Elks.

In addition to his widow COX is survived by one son, Donald L., Detroit; four grandsons; his father, Charles COX, Keosauqua; and a brother, Richard L., Packwood.

He was preceded in death by his mother.

COX Rites To Be At Funeral Home

Last rites for George COX will be held Wednesday at the Raymond Funeral Home.

The services will be at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Ned Gillum officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. COX died suddenly early Monday morning at his home, 706 North B.

Survivors include his widow; one son, Donald L. Detroit; four grandchildren; his father, Charles COX, Keosauqua; and a brother, Richard L. COX, Packwood.
