DEATH CLAIMS MRS. C. L. COX

Death came yesterday afternoon to Mrs. Charles L. "Ted" COX, well known Jefferson county farm woman. She passed away at 2:30 p.m. at the Van Buren county hospital in Keosauqua after a serious illness of several weeks.

She became seriously ill Dec. 10 and since that time had been a patient in hispitals at Boone, Ia., and Fairfield before she passed away at the Keosauqua hospital yesterday.

Last rites will be Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at the Hoskins funeral home with the Rev. Wilbur E. Longstregth of Memphis, Mo., in charge. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.

Gertrude Ellen CARROLL COX was born Feb. 9, 1903, at Memphis, Mo., the daughter of the late E. W. and Eva BRANSTETTER. She was united in marriage on Oct. 9, 1946, to Charles L. COX. The marriage took place in Missouri. Her first husband passed away in June, 1934. She was a member of the Methodist church.

Besides her husband, she is survived by the following children: Kathryn FERGUSON, Burbank, Calif.; Eugene and Keith CARROLL, Memphis; and Mrs. Lynn MALONE, also of Memphis; as well as two step-children: George and Richard COX, both of Fairfield.

She is also survived by five grandchildren and three step grandchildren; and six sisters, Mrs. E. A. HOPKINS, Mrs. C. L. CARROLL, Mrs. Ray SLOCUM, Mrs. Dorsa SLOCUM, Mrs. Robert NEWBALD and Mrs. William F. HALL, all of Memphis, Mo.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother.
