William CORRY died at his home in this city Saturday. He had been in ill health for several months, and his friends scarcely dared hope that he might recover. The remains were interred in the Evergreen cemetery Monday afternoon, Rev. J. F. Magill, assisted by Revs. Boatman and Marsh, conducting the funeral services. Mr. CORRY was born at Pittsburgh, Penn., in September, 1818, and grew to manhood in that vicinity. In 1852 he was married to Miss Hannah LEWIS, and the young people came to Iowa the same year. For several years they made their home in Wapello and Van Buren counties, and the wife died in the latter county in October, 1856. Three children by that marriage are all dead. In March, 1861, Mr. CORRY was united in marriage with Mrs. Eleanor A. BURDEN, who died in this city a few months ago. Of four children born to them two are now living, both in this city, Miss Alice CORRY and Mrs. C. H. GAGE. The family has resided in this county since 1873, and in Fairfield for twelve years past. Mr. CORRY was a good man and citizen. His long period of residence in southeastern Iowa had given him a wide acquaintance and the news of his death will come as a great shock to many old friends.

One of the long time residents of Fairfield passed away last Saturday in the death of Wm. CORRY, at his home in the western part of town. He died from heart disease. Mr. CORRY's health had beed (sic) failing for perhaps a year, although he had not been considered dangerous until quite recently. A month ago he was seen to be worse and since this his decline has been rapid. He had not been confined to his bed, in fact it was difficult for him to recline, but he was about only a few days before and had walked across the room the day previous to his death.
Mr. CORRY's parents came from near Belfast in Ireland, and his birth occurred soon after they landed in this country, in September, 1818. For ten years his parents lived at Pittsburg, after which they moved onto a fam near Mononghehala (sic - Monongahela) City, Pa., where Mr. CORRY was married in 1852 to Miss Hannah LEWIS. Soon after his marriage he came to Iowa, locating in Wapello county, removing the next year to Van Buren county. In 1856 his wife died, leaving two children, both now deceased. In 1861 Mr. CORRY was married for the second time, his wife being Mrs. Eleanor A. BURDEN, of Birmingham, and in 1873 they removed to this city. Mrs. CORRY died last August. To them were born four children, one son dying in infancy, another daughter, Belle, in her sixteenth year, and two still survive, Mrs. Charles W. GAGE and Miss Alice M. CORRY, both of this city.
The funeral was held at the house Monday at two p.m., Rev. Dr. Magill, assisted by Rev. Mr. Boatman, conducting the services, and the remains were buried in the Evergreen cemetery,
