Ruth N. COPELAND, 75, died suddenly at 8:30 p.m. Saturday at her home, 1101 E. Jefferson.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Behner Funeral Home. The Rev. Paul Vaughan will officiate and burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Heart Fund.
Mrs. COPELAND had lived most of her life in Jefferson County. She was employed as a cook by a number of clubs and restaurants prior to her retirement. She was a member of the Faith Baptist Church.
Ruth N. COPELAND was born June 22, 1909, in Lamoni. She was the daughter of Arthur and Eva NEWBERRY DOWNEY. Her marriage to Clifford COPELAND (sic - John Clifford COPELAND) July 4, 1927, in Mount Pleasant. He died Aug. 21, 1983.
Five sons and five daughters survive. They are Carroll COPELAND, Rt. 4; Wayne C. COPELAND, Lexington, N.C.; John COPELAND, Fairfield; Bernice THOMPSON, Grand Prairie, Texas; Larry D. COPELAND, Libertyville; Donna VICE, Fairfield; Rosalie RODGERS, Lincoln, Nebr.; Carolyn POOL, Rt. 1, Birmingham; Darrell COPELAND, Rt. 1; and Rita BARBER, Fairfield.
Other survivors include 32 grandchildren; two brothers, Roy DOWNEY, Fairfield, and Don DOWNEY, Hedrick; and a sister, Dorothy CLINGMAN, Hedrick.

COPELAND DECEASED BEARING DATE OF THE 17TH DAY OF SEPTEMBER, 1981, WAS ADMITTED TO PROBATE IN THE ABOVE NAMED COURT AND THAT CARROLL K. COPELAND, JOHN A. COPELAND, LARRY D. COPELAND, AND DARRELL E. COPELAND WERE APPOINTED CO-EXECUTORS OF THE ESTATE.
NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN THAT ANY ACTION TO SET ASIDE SAID WILL MUST BE BROUGHT IN THE DISTRICT COURT OF SAID COUNTY WITHIN FOUR MONTHS FROM THE DATE OF THE SECOND PUBLICATION OF THIS NOTICE, OR THEREAFTER BE FOREVER BARRED.
