B. PEACOCK dies in South Dakota

KEOSAUQUA -- Bernice M. PEACOCK, formerly of Keosauqua, died Thursday at McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D. Arrangements are pending at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua.

PEACOCK rites to be Monday

KEOSAUQUA -- Services for Berniece M. PEACOCK, 95, of Sioux Falls, S.D., will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Pedrick Funeral Home.

Mrs. PEACOCK, formerly of Keosauqua and Fairfield, died Thursday at McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls.

The Rev. Dennis Fox will officiate. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Friends may call at their convenience.

Mrs. PEACOCK is the daughter of Charles and Anna COX. She was born Aug. 3, 1889 in Wayne County. She grew up in Fairfield and married Emmett PEACOCK on Nov. 19, 1925.

They farmed near Mt. Sterling. PEACOCK was killed in a farming accident in 1951. Mrs. PEACOCK lived in Keosauqua from 1951 until 1980. She then moved with her grand-nephew, Robert COX in Sioux Falls. She operated apartment complexes in Keosauqua, donating the land for Peacock Park.

Mrs. PEACOCK was a member of the Keosauqua Methodist Church and American Legion Auxiliary. Three sisters and two brothers preceded her in death. She is survived by nieces and nephews.

Note: Buried in Lot 3rd.176, under the PEACOCK surname. She was first married in 1913 to James Arthur COOPER. When he died or where he is buried is not known at this time. Second husband Emmett is buried in Purdom Cemetery, Keosauqua, IA.
