Roy COOP, 68, Dies Suddenly

Roy L. COOP, 68, lifetime Fairfield area farmer, died suddenly Sunday at 11:30 p.m. at the Jefferson County Hospital. Death was caused by a heart attack.

The COOP farm is located one and a half miles northeast of the city. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the First Methodist Church in charge of the Rev. James Dendler. Military rites will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The body is at the Weston Behner Funeral Home.

COOP was born March 1, 1898 in Jefferson County, the son of A. L. and Katie DANA COOP. He was married to Gladys FULTON Dec. 23, 1926.

Surviving are his widow and three children: Mrs. Kathern POTTORFF, Marshall, Minn.; Kenneth L. COOP, Canberra, Australia; and Richard M. COOP, Des Moines.

Also surviving are three grandchildren and the following brothers and sisters: Raymond COOP, Fairfield; Harold COOP, Brighton; Beatrice COOP, Kewanee, Ill.; Mrs. Bernice GODWIN, Fairfield; Mrs. Gladys HART, Des Moines; Mrs. Maurine BELL, Des Moines; and Mrs. Celeste HOLM, Fairfield.

COOP was a veteran of World War I. He was a member of the First Methodist Church, VFW, Elks and Masonic lodges.
