COOP Rites To Be Wednesday

Mrs. Katie D. COOP, 86, lifetime resident of the Fairfield community, died about 1 a.m. this morning at the Nelson Nursing home where she had been a patient since February 1959. She had been in failing health for the past five years.

Mrs. COOP has 80 direct descendants including eight children, 26 grandchildren and 46 great grandchildren.

Last rites will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Weston Behner funeral home with the Rev. J. Roland Crandall in charge. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.

Mrs. Katie D. COOP was born Dec. 1, 1876, in Jefferson county, the daughter of George L. and Hattie WOLF DANNA (sic - DANA). She was married to Albert L. COOP on Feb. 26, 1896. The wedding took place near Fairfield. He preceded his wife in death on Feb. 16, 1945. Mrs. COOP was a member of the Methodist church.

She is survived by the following children: Roy and Raymond COOP, both of Fairfield; Harold D. COOP, Brighton; Beatrice E. COOP, Kewanee, Ill.; Mrs. Gladys HART, Des Moines; Mrs. Maurine BELL, Des Moines; Mrs. Celeste HOLM, also of Fairfield.

Other survivors include 26 grandchildren; 46 great grandchildren; two brothers, Earl DANA, Ottumwa, and Clarence DANA Richland; two sisters, Mrs. Jennie WEST, Clark, Nebraska, and Mrs. William KANN, Fairfield.

She was preceded in death by one brother.

State of Iowa, Jefferson County, ss.

Notice Is Hereby Given, that the undersigned has been duly appointed and qualified as Executor of the estate of Katie D. COOP deceased, late of Jefferson County. All persons indebted to said estate are requested to make immediate payment, and those having claims against the same will present them within legal time, duly authenticated, to the undersigned, for allowance and file in the office of the Clerk of the District Court.
