Beatrice COOP rites Thursday

Beatrice E. COOP, 82, 333 Benton Ave., Iowa City, died at 6:40 a.m. today at Jefferson County Hospital.

The body will be cremated and memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Community Room at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jerry Miller officiating. Memorials have been established to the American Cancer Fund, American Heart Fund, First United Methodist Church, Iowa City United Methodist Church and Antioch Church of Christ. Behner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Miss COOP was born Aug. 6, 1904 in Jefferson County, the daughter of Albert and Katherine DANA COOP. She graduated from Parsons College in 1927, took graduate work at Iowa State University, Ames, and had been a home economics teacher in Kewanee, Ill., for 27 years. An avid world traveler, she had visited the Holy Land twice. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Retired Teachers Association, DAR, AARP and UMW of Iowa City.

She is survived by several nieces and nephews. Three brothers and four sisters preceded her in death.

We would like to express our deep appreciation to all our friends who were concerned and supported our aunt, Beatrice COOP, during her stay at extended care. A special thank you to all of the nurses and aides at the Jefferson County Hospital for their help and concern and to Reverend Jerry Miller for his very special service. To the UMW for the lovely dinner served to the family, the Behner Funeral Home for their services and Dr. J.R. Watson for his care and concern. Thank you all. God Bless You.
