A. L. COOP DIES; RITES MONDAY

of one of Iowa's pioneer settlers, and one of Jefferson county's prominent farmers, passed away suddenly last evening at his home, 409 N. Main St., He had been in poor health since suffering a heart attack in December.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. from the Methoist church with Dr .U. S. Smith of Agency and Rev. A. P. Keast, officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen cemetery.

Mr. COOP was the son of the late Lafayette and Cynthia Jane COOP. A history of the family appearing in the Jefferson county records relates that the great great grandfather of Mr. COOP signed his name "William Kupe" and served in the German army. The great grandfather, David COOP served in the Revolutionary War.

A. L. COOP was born March 23, 1868 in Fairfield, Iowa and lived in this county his entire life. He was united in marriage to Katherine Josephine DANA on February 26, 1896. Before taking ill, he was a prominent and active member of the local Methodist church.

He is survived by his wife and five daughters: Mrs. Bernice GODWIN, Beatrice E. COOP and Celeste R. COOP, all of Fairfield; and Mrs. Gladys HART and Mrs. Maurine BELL of Des Moines; three sons, Roy, Raymond and Harold all Jefferson county farmers; three sisters, Myrtle COOP, and Mrs. Bertha FLINSPACH, of Fairfield; and Mrs. Ollie BELVILLE, Brainard, Minn.; one brother, Eldon THOMPSON, Riverside, Calif.; and twenty-one grandchildren.

TO ALL WHOM IT MAY CONCERN:

Notice is hereby given that an instrument, purporting to be the last Will and Testament of A. L. COOP, Deceased is now on file in the office of the Clerk of the District Court of Jefferson County, and that Monday, March 19th A. D. 1945 at 9:30 o'clock A. M. has been set for proof and final hearing of same.

Witness my hand and the seal of said Court, this 20th day of February, 1945.
