Pollock, MOWilliam Marion "Bill" CASTEEL, 78 years old, of Pollock, Missouri, passed away on Monday, March 15, 2021, at the University of Missouri Hospitals in Columbia, Missouri.
Bill was born March 1, 1943, in Milan, Missouri, to William Murle and Lillian (Ione CHRISTY WHITE) CASTEEL. On October 15, 1961, he married Doris June WOOD, and she preceded him in death on October 4, 2018. He is also preceded in death by his daughter, Lori BASCIO; his parents; brothers, Bob CHRISTY, Fordy Jackson WHITE; and sisters, Louise CARLSON and Kathleen SMITH.
Bill is survived by his children, Carol Janeen SMITH (Lyle), Robert CASTEEL, Daniel CASTEEL (Carmela), Rhonda HOLLANDER, Jeri JoAnn CASTEEL and James Nicholas CASTEEL; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers, Kenneth WHITE, Richard CASTEEL (Christine), Earl CASTEEL, Mike CASTEEL (Connie), and Dennis CASTEEL; sisters, Norma ELLIOTT (Roger) and Glenda DOUTHART (Dennis); and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Bill and his family lived in the Milan, Lemmons and Pollock, Missouri, area when he was growing up. He attended various country schools around the Lemmons area until starting full time work. For several years he worked in Unionville as a milkman with a truck route. After marrying June, they lived in Pollock and moved north of Lemmons, where their house burned down, and he continued the milk truck route. Afterward, they moved to Fairfield, Iowa, where Bill worked as a truck driver for Dickey's Transport for several years. Later, they moved to Unionville, Missouri, where Bill worked for Wagoneer Trucking. After most of the children were grown, Bill and family moved to Pollock, Missouri. It was here that he owned and operated Casteel Salvage LLC. When Junes' health failed, they moved to a farm east of Pollock but continued to operate the salvage yard. After June passed away, he retired and lived with his son Bob at the farm. Bill enjoyed hunting and fishing throughout his life. He enjoyed visiting with everyone at any time throughout the course of a day and would spend time at the local store in Pollock. He most loved spending time with his family during visits or at reunions. He was a fixture in the Pollock community and will be missed by all.
A "Celebration of Life" in honor of Bill will be held starting at 10:00 AM, Sunday, May 30, 2021, at the Pollock, Missouri Community Center. Lunch will begin at 1:00 PM. Burial will be at a later date. All friends and family are invited to attend.
