MRS. COLLINS RITES FRIDAY

Mrs. Mell R. COLLINS, 104 South Maple Street, lifetime Jefferson county resident, passed away yesterday afternoon at 2:50 p.m. at the Jefferson county hospital. She had been in failing health for the past four years and seriously ill for two years.

Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 4:00 p.m. at the Hoskins Funeral home with Dr. C. R. Douglass officiating. Burial in Evergreen cemetery.

Cloie D. MONSON, the daughter of C. A. and Nancy DUNLAP MONSON, was born in Jefferson county November 10, 1869. She was married on March 30, 1889 to Mr. COLLINS, who survives.

Surviving besides her husband are two sons: Dr. C. M. COLLINS of Ottumwa and Dr. R. E. COLLINS of Oskaloosa; one brother, Henry MONSON of Salina; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by twin daughters who died in 1890 at the age of four years (sic).

Note: Buried in Lot Old.P.355. Husband Melvin died in 1955 and is buried with her. The twins, Zoe and Zella, were born in October, 1900, and died in February, 1901, at the age of about four months. They were originally interred in Chilcott Cemetery, and moved to Evergreen Cemetery with their parents.
