HE DIES TODAY AT DAVENPORT
Guy CLINKENBEARD Passed Away at 8 O'clock After Lingering Illness

Guy CLINKENBEARD died this morning at 8 o'clock at the Pine Knoll sanitarium at Davenport, where he has been a patient for the last few weeks (note: in Scott Co., IA). Funeral arrangements will be announced later.

The decedent was born December 22, 1874 at Fairfield, and with the exception of a few years at Libertyville, has always resided here. He has been ill for the last year and a half, but it was only recently that his condition became serious.

He is survived by four brothers, Joseph of Oakland, California, J. W. of Des Moines, Dave of Mt. Pleasant, Bernie of Fairfield, and a sister, Mrs. Sam COOL of Kearney, Nebr.

CLINKENBEARD RITES HELD THIS AFTERNOON

Guy CLINKENBEARD, who died at Davenport Tuesday morning, was buried this afternoon, from the home of Bernie CLINKENBEARD, 106 South Sixth street. Rev. Louis Mendenhall conducted the service, and interment was made at the Evergreen cemetry (sic).

The following served as pallbearers James Heston, George FRESHWATER, George Kienholz, Hugo Scannell, Ora Greenfield and James Freshwater.

GUY CLINKENBEARD DIES AT DAVENPORT AGED FORTY-SEVEN

Guy CLINKENBEARD died Tuesday morning at a Davenport sanitarium where he had been a patient for several weeks. His death had been expected for some time, as his condition had been critical recently. He had been a sufferer from ill health for nearly two years.

Mr. CLINKENBEARD was born in Fairfield in 1874, and has resided in this city practically all of his life. He is survived by four brothers, Joe, of California; J. W., of Des Moines; Devid (sic), of Mt. Pleasant; Bernie, of Fairfield. Also, a sister, Mrs. Samuel KOOL, of Nebraska.

Note: Buried in Lot 1st.041. Some ambiguity exists regarding his birth year; it has been noted as 1874 (obituaries) and 1876 (gravestone). The 1880 census (taken June 14, 1880) notes him as three years old. In the 1900 census (taken June 13, 1900), he's noted as being born December, 1877, and age 22. In the 1910 census (taken April 19, 1910), he's noted as 36 years old. Vital Records weren't required to be kept in IA until July, 1880, so no birth certificate exists for verification.
