MRS. J. CLARKE DIED MONDAY

Mrs. J. F. CLARKE, 83, widow of the late Dr. J. Fred CLARKE, passed away at the Burlington hospital yesterday. Her death came after a serious illness of one month.

Funeral services will be held at the CLARKE home, 500 South Main street, at 2:30 p.m. Thursday with Rev. S. P. Williamson in charge. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery. The body is at the Monger funeral home and will be taken to the family home Thursday morning.

Mrs. CLARKE was born March 22, 1863, at Huntsburg, Ohio, the daughter of the late Sylvester and Susan CLAPP. She was reared and educated at Lee Center, Illinois, and at the Iowa State university.

In 1891 she was united in marriage to Dr. J. Fred CLARKE at Lee Center. Later they moved to Fairfield where her husband became well known as a physician and leader in civic affairs. Mrs. CLARKE had been a resident of this city for the past 55 years. She was a member of the Congregational church and the D.A.R.

She is survived by a sister, Mrs. L. D. CLARK, Huntsburg, Ohio; a niece, Mrs. Donald JACKSON, Long Island, N. Y.; and a cousin, C. C. CLARK, of Burlington.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, That the undersigned has been duly appointed and qualified as Executrix of the estate of Melinda E. CLARKE, deceased, late of Jefferson County. All persons indebted to said estate are requested to make immediate payment; and those having claims against the same will present them, duly authenticated, to the undersigned for allowance, and file in the office of the Clerk of the District Court.
