Death of Robert CLARKE.

Robert CLARKE, a resident of this city from 1871 to 1886, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. B. V. DENNING, at Normal, Ill., on the 4th inst. He was stricken with paralysis last spring and had been failing ever since. Deceased was born in Ireland in 1798 and came to the United States when about twenty-one years of age. He lived in Philadelphia for a number of years and was married there. He afterwards removed to Ohio and resided at Delaware, that state, until he came to Iowa. After leaving Fairfield he made his home wit his children in Kansas and Illinois. Mrs. CLARKE died in this city and it was the wish of the husband that his body should lie in the same ground as that of his wife. The remains were brought here Friday, and interred in the Evergreen cemetery the following afternoon. Funeral services were held at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Gantz, conducted by Rev. E. L. Schreiner and Rev. J. F. Magill. Those who knew Mr. CLARKE during his residence here held him in the highest esteem. He was an excellent man in every relation of life, and his honesty, his integrity, his upright character were unquestionable. Several members of Mr. CLARKE's family, among them W. A. CLARK, Mrs. DUMM, Mrs. DAVENPORT, Mrs. RIGDON and Mrs. DENNING, once resided here, but all have moved elsewhere.
