Glen Ray "Doc" SHELANGOSKI, 54, 1101 W. Briggs Ave., died at 2:15 a.m. Sunday, June 12, 2005, at Jefferson County Hospital.
The funeral is scheduled at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Raymond Funeral Home with the Rev. Keevin Koch officiating. Following cremation, burial will be at a later time at Maple Hill Cemetery in Birmingham.
Family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to be decided later by the family.
Mr. SHELANGOSKI was born Dec. 6, 1950, in Ottumwa, the son of Clifford and Helen HESTON SHELANGOSKI. He married Shelley VERNON Jan. 9, 1971, at St. Mary Catholic Church.
He grew up in Birmingham and graduated from Van Buren High School in 1968. He was a resident of Fairfield since 1971.
He worked at Iowa Malleable Iron Works and Fairfield Freight Terminal before working for the city of Fairfield street department. He served as superintendent for the city crew and just received his pin for 25 years of service.
He enjoyed muscle cars, cruise nights and drag races. He watched sports on TV and spent time with his family. He and his wife showed a 1965 Pontiac GTO.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Michael SHELANGOSKI of Mount Pleasant; one daughter, Lora SHELANGOSKI of Fairfield; his mother of Birmingham; two brothers, Ernie SHELANGOSKI of Birmingham and Wayne SHELANGOSKI of Fairfield; five sisters, Marilyn POWELL of Ottumwa, Shirley SHELANGOSKI of California, Cheryl HUNTOON of Fairfield, Beverly TAYLOR of Florida and Judy SHELANGOSKI of California.
He was preceded in death by his father; and one infant sister, Marsha.
