Roger Merle McHugh, 73, of Batavia, died at 9:30 p.m. Saturday, June 11, 2005, at Parkview Care Center in Fairfield.

The funeral is scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday at Raymond Funeral Home with the Rev. Harlan Van Voorst officiating. Burial will be in Packwood Cemetery.

Family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Mr. McHugh was born Nov. 2, 1931, in Omaha, Neb., the son of Jack and Eva Peterson. He married Beatrice "Bea" Fair at the Little Brown Church in Nashua.

He grew up in the Logan and Woodbine areas. He moved to Linby and also lived in Packwood before moving to Batavia.

He farmed for 14 years and worked in the foundry at Dexter Company for 13 years.

Survivors include one daughter, Robie Merrill of Batavia; two sons, Pat McHugh of Greensburg, Ind., and Roger Willis "Willie" McHugh of Washington, Iowa; three brothers; three sisters; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; one son, Larry James McHugh; two brothers; and one sister.
