Lester Roy Schilb, 69, of Fairfield, died at 6:39 a.m. Thursday, June 9, 2005, at Jefferson County Hospital.

A graveside service is scheduled at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Spencer Cemetery, northeast of Stockport, with the Rev. Keevin, Koch officiating.

Family visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. today at Behner Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial may be sent to the family.

Mr. Schilb was born Dec. 23, 1935, in Des Moines County, the son of Fred R. and Gladys L. Boughton Schilb.

He was a longtime resident of Jefferson County. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of Korean War.

He was employed by Vorhies Excavating for 20 years. He also was a truck driver for Hunsaker and Harwood Trucking and most recently a security guard at Falco.

Survivors include his wife, Doris of Fairfield; two sons, Steven Schilb of Olathe, Kan., and Jeffrey Schilb of Birmingham; three daughters, Glenda White of Fairfield, Linda Hammes of Ottawa, Kan., and Roxie Brown of Burlington; four sisters, Hester Steele, Gloria Smith and Sue Wisener, all of Burlington and Dorothy Remeck of LaHarp, Ill.; two brothers, Thomas Ertz of Sun City, Ariz., and Jack Wooldridge of Burlington; 12 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Esther Wooldridge and Rosemary Jones.
