Helen M. Crile, 89, of Washington, Iowa, died Thursday, June 9, 2005, at Halcyon House in Washington, following an extended illness.

The funeral is scheduled at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at United Methodist Church in Washington, with the Rev. Julia Poulsen and the Rev. Dennis Fox officiating. Burial will be in Elm Grove Cemetery in Washington.

Visitation is scheduled at 9 a.m. Tuesday at Jones-Eden Funeral Home in Washington, where the family will receive friends from 6:30-8 p.m.

Memorials have been established to United Methodist Church, Hospice of Washington County and Halcyon House Good Samaritan Fund.

Mrs. Crile was born July 15, 1915, in Henry County near Trenton, the daughter of Lloyd and Bessie Hinkle Loeffler. She married Clyde H. Crile Nov. 17, 1933, in Mount Pleasant. He died in 1987.

She attended Star School in Henry County. She lived in Burlington from 1941 to 1945 and in numerous places in Washington County.

She assisted her husband in the farming operation for many years.

She was a cook at Washington County Hospital from 1968 to 1977.

Mrs. Crile was a member of United Methodist Church, American Home Fortnightly, Farm Bureau, Washington Country Club and Friendly Circle Club.

She was the resident seamstress at Halcyon House and was a bridge and pinochle player.

Survivors include two sons, Marvin Crile and wife Phyllis of Washington and Tonnie Crile and wife Pat of Washington; two daughters, Connie Bauer and husband Kenneth of Washington and Linda Boston and husband Martin of Washington; three sisters, Edna Sanders of Iowa City, Marjorie Crossett of Wellman and Wanda Stannard of Phoenix, Ore.; 12 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one infant daughter, Nancy Jane Crile; one son, Jimmie Clyde Crile; and six brothers.
