Florence "Kathleen" Johnson
June 10, 2005Florence "Kathleen" Johnson, 80, of Burlington, died at 6:57 a.m. Thursday, June 9, 2005, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.
The funeral is scheduled at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Burlington, with the Rev. Jack Edmisson and the Rev. Tyrone Henderson officiating. Burial will be in Burlington Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will continue until 5 p.m. today at Lunning Chapel in Burlington. Visitation also will be from 9:30 a.m. until the service Saturday at the church.
A memorial has been established to First Baptist Church.
Mrs. Johnson was born Nov. 11, 1924, in Keokuk County, the daughter of Lacey and Pearl Curtiss Sheradin. She married John Oscar Johnson May 7, 1941, in Kahoka, Mo. He died Nov. 14, 1996.
She was a homemaker and also worked at Sylvania and the Christian Bookstore.
She was a member of First Baptist Church for more than 50 years. She was a Sunday school teacher for more than 30 years. She was also the vacation Bible school director and on the board of deaconesses. She was a member of American Baptist Womens Missionary and Suzanne Powers-Helen Ryberg Circle.
She played drums, basketball, softball and tap danced when she was in high school. She graduated from Ollie High School in Ollie.
Survivors include three daughters Diana Neeley of Roseburg, Ore., Morlene Brissey of West Burlington and Vicky McKnight of Davenport; one son, Christopher Johnson of Burlington; two sisters, Lorene Reinier of Ollie and Mary McClure of Pflugerville, Texas; 13 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
