Kevin Lamont Messenger, 46, of Mount Union, died Tuesday, June 7, 2005, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

The funeral is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Monday at Kercheval Funeral Home in Sheridan, Ind. Burial will be in Crown View Cemetery in Sheridan.

Visitation will begin at noon Friday, with family present from 4-8 p.m., at Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel in Mount Pleasant. A memorial service is scheduled at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Visitation also will be from 4-8 p.m. Sunday at Kercheval Funeral Home in Sheridan.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.

Mr. Messenger was born Jan. 25, 1959, in Noblesville, Ind., the son of John Edward and Tresa Ann Heinzman Messenger. He married Sandy Griggs Feb. 1, 2004, in Mount Pleasant.

He graduated from Noblesville High School in 1977. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army. He was stationed in Germany for most of his tour of duty.

He was employed for many years in various types of factory work. He was currently employed as a machinist mechanic at Tri-State Envelope Company in Wapello. He also worked as a real estate agent for Prottsman Realty in Mount Pleasant.

Survivors include his wife; one son, Ryan Messenger of Noblesville; two stepsons, David Hinkle who is currently serving in the U.S. Army and Patrick Hinkle of Cedar Rapids; his mother, Tresa Green and husband Norman of Birmingham; his father, John Messenger and wife Geri of Noblesville; three brothers, Jeff Messenger of Hilton Head, S.C., Shawn Messenger of Noblesville and Garry Green of Indianapolis, Ind.; five sisters, Debbie Craig of Fairfield, Stacy Whisenand of Cedar Rapids, Linda Riffey of Noblesville, Kelli Klingerman of Knox, Ind., and Elizabeth Green of Indianapolis; and his grandmother, Anna Riley of Allgood, Tenn.

He was preceded in death by three grandparents.
