June 08, 2005Florence M. Garrett, 86, of Keosauqua died at 3:50 a.m. Tuesday, June 7, 2005, at Van Buren Good Samaritan Center in Keosauqua.
The funeral is scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, with the Rev. Bryon Wixom officiating. Burial will be in Sunnyside Cemetery in Milton.
Visitation will be open from 3-7 p.m. today at the funeral home. The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. Thursday prior to the funeral at the funeral home.
Memorials to Sunnyside Cemetery may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at 2847 340th St. SW, Tiffin 52340.
Mrs. Garrett was born Dec. 30, 1918, near Drakesville, the daughter of Howard and Era Bullock Smith. She married William Herschel Garrett Jan. 9, 1954, in Milton. He died in 1965.
Mrs. Garrett and her husband farmed near Milton. After his death, she moved to Keosauqua and worked as a cook in the Van Buren Community School District. She had resided at Van Buren Good Samaritan Center since November 2002.
She attended Keosauqua United Methodist Church. She was a member of Beer-Barker Unit 113 of the American Legion Auxiliary in Keosauqua.
Survivors include four nieces, Jeanne Yeries of Fort Collins, Colo., Janice Maier of Iowa City, Jane Gent of Tiffin and Joy Kaefring of Oxford; and several great nieces and nephews, including Cheryl Linn-Vitan of Keosauqua, who was her local caregiver.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Vivian Morford; and one infant sister.
